Tour highlights: Mt. Aso-san is located at the center of Aso-Kuju National Park in Kumamoto and Oita, which lies roughly in the center of Kyushu. The mountain is a typical complex volcano composed of an outer rim with a total circumferential length of 128 kilometers, a caldera (circular volcanic basin) with three municipals inside, and five mountains (Aso Gotake) on the central plateau, including the active Mt. Naka-dake.
Note: We recommend you to prepare casual clothes and also to bring any warm clothes.

The following two programs are offered for the conference participants for free.
Anyone can participate in the program for free of charge and without reservations.
AP-1: Tea Ceremony:
Tea ceremony, known in Japanese as cha-no-yu, was introduced to Japan via China and perfected by master Sen-no-Rikyu, who was heavily influenced by 16th Century Zen Buddhism.

AP-2: Kimono Wearing:
The Kimono, traditional Japanese dress, now often used for formal occasions such as weddings, will be introduced and explained. There will be an opportunity to try one on.

Tour highlight :
- Former residence of Natsume Soseki - Natsume Soseki, one of the great writers of modern Japanese literature, came to Kumamoto to teach at Goko (currently Kumamoto University) in 1896. He moved six times during his four-year stay in Kumamoto. This residence was his fifth, and where he and his family spent the longest amount of time, and was the most favorite house in Kumamoto.
- Former residence of Koizumi Yakumo - The Greek-born writer, Lafcadio Hearn (known as Koizumi Yakumo in Japan), came to Kumamoto to teach English at Goko (currently Kumamoto University) in 1891. During his first year here, he completed one of many literary works. This house was rebuilt in 1995 and contains some panels which introduce his achievements and works. The household Shinto alter that Yakumo prayed at every morning is also preserved.
- Goko Memorial Hall - This building, which was built under the educational system of the Meiji Era, is located on the grounds of Kumamoto University, where it was constructed in 1889. The building, its design, and its front gate are designated as important cultural properties of Japan.

- Kumamoto Castle - an impregnable fortress with unique architectural features and is known as one of the most famous castles in Japan.
- Formar residence of Hosokawa Gyobu - The house was built in the traditional “shoin-tsukuri” construction style. Its formal tea ceremony room and old fashioned kitchen give visitors a fascinating glimpse into the way of life of samurai.
- Suizenji Jojuen Park - The garden is landscaped to resemble scenes of the Fifty three Stations on the Tokaido (between Tokyo and Kyoto). Mt. Suizenji Fuji in the center is the garden's emblem.

- Musashizuka Park - kept with grave of Miyamoto Musashi who was the great swordsman.at the center of park. A statue of Musashi known as the master of two-sword fighting stands in a beautiful Japanese garden alongside a tea ceremony room.

- Goyaku Rakan - is a rock face on which 500 statues of Buddha are enshrined. Each statue's individual expression make this a unique and enthralling site.
- Reigando Cave - Miyamoto Musashi was a great swordsman of the Edo Era who spent his final years in Kumamoto. This cave is known as the place where Musashi sat in meditation and wrote “Gorin no Sho,” in which he describes the spiritual essence of his swordsmanship, tactics and strategies for war.

- Huis Ten Bosch - able to enjoy the view of Omura Bay from the park with its millions of flowers blooming year-round in and around the resident windmills, towers and palaces.
- Sugawarano Michizane - was banished from Kyoto to Dazaifu in 901 A.D. and died while still in exile. As his exile coincided with a number of natural disasters in Kyoto, a shrine was built here to appease his spirit and to venerate him as the God of Learning. He is still the target of modern day students praying for academic success. The shrine is famous for its 6,000 plum trees.

Tour highlight :
- Kurokawa Onsen takes pride in the abundant flow of their hot spring's water and its beneficial effects. Each year it climbs higher and higher in the ranks of popular hot spring resorts. The temperature of the source water is 80 to 100 degrees centigrade, perfect for use in open air baths.
- Kikuchi Valley - the panorama shows places of scenic beauty: Ryugabuchi Pools and Yonjusanman Daki Falls, promenades, open spaces in forests inhabited by more than 50 species of wild fowl.
- Daikanbo Peak - the observation deck at 936 m above sea level commands a splendid view of the Asogogaku mountain ranges. Seas of clouds loom up from time to time in early morning in autumn and winter.
- Yamanami Highway - it runs from Yufuin, Oita Prefecture to Miyaji Ichinomiya-cho, Kumamoto Prefecture with a fine view of vast grasslands on both sides, and is dotted with scenic spots, drive-ins, hotels etc.
